aperture

When using aperture is when the camera has a big hole or a small whole like a eye. It blurs out the background and focuses on the front. The picture of the rose up close would b a small hole.Then the open vally focused and clear looking.

ISO

ISO uses the light from the surrounding area from your picture.
When you use flash you mess up the picture because they flash takes away the natural light, and adds a bright shine to your skin.
Over the course of the pictures the camera is taking the light from the picture and it makes them brighter.
I would use ISO over flash when I’m outside and there is a lot of beautiful natural light around you.
Have to be careful when you use a fast ISO because your camera might let in to much light.

flash

what flash does is adds light to dark scenes. flash is good to capture moments that are in dark places. flash is good tool but it can ofter mess up a picture. Some pictures look nice with the natural light that it gives off. Then when you add flash it takes away the natural light and adds its own light. It also makes the subject in the photo look like a deer in the headlights. It is a good idea to use flash when you are in a dark room or a place with no lights. In this picture you can see the lights that are comeing off the building. the light is perfect, it shows the lady just wright, if they would of used the flash they would of tooken away the natural light and the lady would have bright spots of her skin and probably red eye.

light metering

what light metering does is when you'r taking a picture it measures the middle greys in the picture and it sets the camera to those tones and it uses those setting for you'r photo. To actvate light metering you have to push the shutter halfway down then it will read the settings they when its done you push the shutter the wrest of the way down and it takes the picture

surrealism: Fisherman’s dream

In my dream I think I am trying to overcome a big problem that is in my life. Using the alligator is showing the thing that I am trying to overcome. Then putting me as a fisherman riling the alligator in is showing how I am fighting with things in my life. The background shows that I feel alone and lost by myself in a empty space where I can’t be found.

surreal tutorials

In the surreal tutorials we had to do a lot of things to the pictures to make them look the way we did. First we made four different layers of the dirt then we blended the copies together to make them look like one big patch of dirt. Next we distorted the dirt to make it look like it was going into the picture instead of on the picture like a wall. Then we added a sky inserted clouds, a jelly fish, and scratch marks into the sky. Finally we added a light pole we inserted a shadow for it and that was it. This was a fun project and it is going to help me with my surreal projects in the future.

personal quilt

My ideas came from what the topic was about and how I wanted them to look when I put them together. I am very happy on how look and how they flow together. My favorite square is the outside square, because I like how the whole thing looks and how it goes together with who I am. The part I struggled with the most was trying to bring my ideas out of my head and make them real. My class mates and the wonderful teacher helped me get things done.

My inside and outside are very different in many ways. The outside shows how I am and what I let some people see. Like how I am proud of whom I am and what I am. The inside shows things that no one will know unless the see it or hear me say it. For example the horse and the cows most of the people that know me don’t know I live on a farm with a lot of animals. Yet again there are some similarities between the two like the love I have for my family.

I was very honest with my content and my expression in the squares. It was very hard to express myself visually because it’s hard to express yourself through a picture rather than telling it.

I love how my squares came out and what they mean to me. The strongest parts of my quilts are the pitchers, because they are pictures that not many people seen ever before.

Artist statement

In my portfolio I have pictures that I have worked long and hard on, trying to make them look nice but different from everyone else’s. I feel very strong about my pitchers knowing that they are what I have done and not what someone else did. During this semester I have learned a numerous amount of things, things that I use over and over again even out of class. One thing that I have learned is the rule of thirds, I use this method almost every time I take a pitcher, even if it’s a snap shot on my phone. I think that I was most successful with my social issue; I was trying to get a message across to people letting them know what is happening in our society today.

I think the project that I struggled with the most was my alien project because their was a lot of different steps that to fallow and if u didn’t fallow them exactly how they went your pictures wouldn’t come out right. The project took me almost four days to complete and another half a day to make little adjustments on it to make it look how I wanted it to look. Another project that I am struggling on is my quilt squares. I am struggling with this because you’re not just taking pictures you’re coming up with an idea to tell a story behind it all.
There is one thing that I could improve on, and that is my creativeness. I could be a little more creative with my work and make them more abstract. This would allow my pictures to stand out and not be so boring. Then again in this semester I have improved a lot I went from knowing how to just take a snap shot too knowing how to take a professional picture. This class is a good experience for anyone that would like to express themselves in an artistic form. This could also be a gateway to a future career in many businesses

i chose these lyrics because i am trying to get a point across to people. a lot of people are so scared with letting people into their life's, weather its a family member a friend or a lover. they just need to under stand they need to just take a chance on that person and hope for the best.

Social Issue: Babies Having Babies

My social issue is a pitcher of a little girl in a Cinderella dress and tiara. In the little girls arms it says in black capital letters DADDY. Then on the little girls feet in black small letters with a white background it says IM PREGNANT. The pitcher itself is in black and white for a stronger feeling. I have the little girl outside so it would give off better light than being inside.
I titled this pitcher “Babies Having Babies” because I see all these kids having babies. These days it seems like everyone that I am going to school with is having babies. I see all my friends that are pregnant, want to be pregnant, or already have a kid

scary effects

my most favorite pitcher is the alien pitcher. i put more work into it than i did with my vampire pitcher. we learned a lot of new tools when we did these pitcher like the pen tool, that's what we used to make the lines that come from the base of my mouth. some difficulties that i ran in to is when i was trying to put the textures on my face and on the background. Some of the skills that i learned today i could use in a real job as maybe a pitcher editor for a magazine.

In the pitcher there is a man that is building a bridge on the water. There is also a little piece of land that we can see that looks like an island. The light in the pitcher is excellent, I like how it makes the ripples in the water and the empty skies around it look. The image is simple with just one man and a bridge in it. I think the man is building the bridge to get too the island on the other side of the water. The pitcher could have been better if the photographer made the piece of land show a little more.

during the period that i was taking these photos using different compositional tricks, my favorite compositional trick is the macro shots they are fun and you can see certain things that you wouldn't see in a regular picture. it allows you to see the texture on the sap more clear making it look like something from out of this world.

Compositional Trick #8 fill in flash

fill in flash affects photos by giving them light when there is not enough light on your subject so it wont be so dark.

drawing with light seperates you photos from others because your using the light and shadows around you to get a more deep pitcher.

Compositional Trick #6 framing

framing is about getting you subject in a frame so it attracts you eyes from looking in different places.

the framing in my photo is the trees making a frame around the rock it helps my subject pop out more.

extreme angles is a good trick to know because you take pitchers from a different angle, so you see things you haven't seen before.

This trick is called simplicity the key was to get a simple subject without a busy background, like i did with the flag simple subject without a busy background.

creating simplicity in a photo makes it more simple and in some cases more strong and powerfull. just by putting one thing in my photo it makes it strong, i chose these pitchers because to me they ment something.

macro is a tool that allows you to get really close to images with out it blurring out and distorting the image, so you can see fine details in the pitcher that you can see with normal camera mode..

Compositional Trick #1 Rule Of Thirds

Rule of thirds is a grid and you try to get the main subject in the grid lines witch would be in a corner of the screen, this makes the pitcher seam less boring and more exciting!!!!
